Sorry guys, with the debate about just how we score it, and the close proximity of two events and Christmas - I am a bit behind with the maths! However, for the moment suffice to say I think we will for this season revert to the old method, whilst shadowing the results by alternative methods for next year. To remind everybody here is a brief synopsis of this calculation:
based on Gender, Age class and course, there is a weighting factor applied to each competitor's average speed. Applying this weighting provides an amended speed. This speed is compared with the average amended speed of the first 3 runners on a particular course. This average provides a baseline of 1000 against which the competitor's calculated speed is compared to provide a points score. The bone of contention is the weighting which is now a bit out of date and favours young runners and older runners. It is these weighting factors that I am trying to get a handle on. Simon by email
