Rosie and Jeff Mason

Happy New Year.  We hope 2004 brings you all that you are hoping for.  It got off to a flying start for all the club members who took up the Haines family's invitation on New Year's day to get out onto Ilkley Moor in very seasonal conditions.   It was much milder at Calverley and that was most welcome.

There was a number of enquiries at Aireport about membership and we urge new members to get involved with a helper team asap as the quickest way to get to know people in what can sometimes appear to be a cliquey sport.

In this edition we've tried to represent the range of activities that go on in the club but we only know what we get told (or that Jeff can unearth from websites) so please help us by sending copy or photos especially if you are digital already!!
A change of printer for AA has improved picture reproduction.

Last AA was also available on the website and we would welcome feedback about this.  We plan to continue this practice at the same time as producing and hanging on to our paper copy (along with the habits and prejudices of ageing orienteers)

The Nov. AA was at the printer when we learned that Peter Palmer had died.  No-one has done more for juniors  and he's rightly been described as the 'father of British Orienteering'. An inspiring  influence.

A warm welcome to new members

Mark Illingworth
Karen Pickard
Rupert Kempley
Noemi Cerny
Ian Bond
Chas, Kate, George, Heather Newstead

See Page 6 for their contact details and quite a few changes to the membership list.  Apologies for giving the wrong email address for Dave Horton in November's AA.
