Club Weekend, 12th - 14th November, Boggle Hole YHA
In a change to previous years, the club weekend away will be held at Boggle Hole Youth Hostel on 12-14 November 2004. This is to enable members to take part in the National event on Fylingdales Moor on Sunday 14th November organised by CLOK.
The hostel is a former mill in a wooded ravine, with the North Sea washing up to the doorstep. A stunning location with cliff top walks, sandy and rocky shorelines and with Robin Hoods Bay only a 15 minute walk away. There you will find a museum and National Trust coastal centre. Ravenscar is 3 miles away along the cliff path and the Whitby to Scarborough disused railway line is ideal to cycle along. The Cleveland Way passes close by as does the Coast to Coast walk. Further afield are the North Yorkshire Moors and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Whitby is 7 miles to the north and Scarborough is 13 miles to the south.
The hostel has many 4 bedded rooms and will be ideal for families. All rooms have a hand basin and family rooms are accessible 24 hours. The hostel is fully open from 1pm. The self catering kitchen is very small, catering for only 16 people so members are encouraged to take all hostel meals, in particular the Saturday evening meal. A children's menu is available for the under 10's.
Last year we filled Coniston Youth Hostel with 60 members and we all had a great time. Knowing that we were the sole occupants made for such a wonderful atmosphere. Please let us do it again at Boggle. We need to occupy 60 out of an available 80 beds to guarantee sole use, so do please sign up and come. Deposits of £10 per adult and £5 per child may be sent to me now to secure your place at what must surely be one of the highlights of the club year. Last year we had to turn people away who booked late as we had filled the hostel. Please do not let this happen to you. Several members have stayed at Boggle Hole before. It is a great place for a weekend and comes highly recommended from families and adult members alike.
A detailed booking form will appear in the next Aire Affairs. Full payment will be required by the beginning of September.
Please do come. Margaret and Alan Parker
