The Yvette Baker Junior Trophy Final is to be held in Norfolk
                     on Sunday 7th December 2003


Junior Home International   Ireland  4-5 October

The Junior Home Internationals are held every year either in England, Ireland, Scotland or Wales, these being the countries that take part. This year England won in Ireland and several AIRE juniors  contributed to England's overall victory. On the individual day these were the results from AIRE juniors:

M14 1st Jack Wood
M16 4th Joe Mercer
M16 ?th Ben Stevens
W14 4th Victoria Stevens

In the relays, only two per age group per country; Victoria was 2nd fastest W14, Joe 4th M16 and Jack 7th M14
Overall results were E 125, S 113, W 72, I 46

Rose Burden and Hector Haines were also selected as reser
ves.

The JHIs and Training with the Start Squad

Recently I have had two new experiences to do with orienteering; going to
Northern Ireland to run for England in the JHI's (Junior Home
Internationals) and going down to Cannock to have a long weekend's training
with the Start Squad.
        It took a whole day of traveling in the hired minibus and on the Stranraer
ferry to get to the Enniskillen Youth Hostel. The Youth Hostel was very
modern complete with showers in every bedroom. After quite a good night's
sleep and an early morning shower we made our way to the individual event.
The terrain was rough and rocky underfoot. I thought that I had quite a good
run, with no major mistakes and when I found out that I had won I was really
pleased. Because of my individual success I was in a team for the relays,
